St Giles Trust has a Women’s Only community Project called WIRE (Women’s Information, and Resettlement of Ex-offenders). WIRE provides a women’s ‘through the gate’ service for London returners released from HMP Send and Downview and a community floating support service for women at risk of offending as well as re-offending. The service is led by female ex-offenders who meet women, prior to release and on the day of release to support them in a holistic manner. WIRE priortise: Women with Children, complex needs, those identifed as Vulnerable and who are sex workers. The key support includes finding safe accommdation, accessing benefits, education, training and employment, and support women to re-establish contact with friends and family. The Project is delivered by specially trained female ex-offenders who have first hand experience of rebuilding their lives.
