New Dawn Dew Day (NDND) works with disadvantaged women and girls, inspiring them to reach their potential and to overcome the barriers of poverty, social exclusion and inequality. They aim to:

• Improve the health and wellbeing of women and girls, particularly those who face severe and multiple disadvantage or who are victims and survivors of abuse and trauma
• Promote and enable greater social inclusion for vulnerable women and reduce their risk of offending / re-offending
• Reduce the risk of violence, abuse and exploitation of women and girls

The Just Women project works in partnership with Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Community Rehabilitation Company to support vulnerable women who are involved in the criminal justice system. The project is based in Leicester City and works on an outreach basis across Leicestershire county. The project provides opportunities for women to participate in a series of trauma informed groups and 121 structured interventions designed to address women’s criminogenic needs and reduce the likelihood of them reoffending. Interventions include education and awareness raising programmes designed to raise confidence and self-esteem, manage negative emotions, improve parenting skills and safeguarding knowledge and promote healthier relationships. Referrals to the project are made through the CRC as part of a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.

In addition to the Just Women project, NDND runs Leicester Women’s Counselling Centre (LWCC), which offers high quality, affordable counselling and psychotherapy to women in the local area. LWCC has particular expertise in trauma focused therapy with women who are victims and survivors of childhood abuse, sexual violence and domestic abuse.

New Dawn New Day also offers holistic, wraparound support services to women with complex needs. This includes 121 outreach support, counselling and access to range of evidence-based, psycho-educational group programmes.
