Women’s Breakout Vision
To see Women’s Breakout services integrated into mainstream rehabilitation provision across England and Wales, contributing to a significant reduction in the number of women in custody and a reduction in the number of those coming into contact with the criminal justice system.
Women with multiple and complex needs, across England and Wales, will have access to Women’s Breakout services and will be empowered to increase their capacity to take responsibility for themselves and their families and to make positive life changes.
Aims
Women’s Breakout aims to contribute to the development of a criminal justice system that addresses offending behaviour and the causes of offending behaviour: a system that does not disproportionately damage the health and family life of women offenders; a system that seeks to intervene early to prevent vulnerable women from entering a destructive and damaging cycle of offending behaviour and which seeks to repair, rebuild and support a fair and equitable society.
Women's Breakout aims to represent and support a women-centred community based approach which works, where appropriate, to divert women from custody, and offers women community alternatives to, and routes out of the criminal justice system.
